Ozzy says he hates the term 'heavy metal'

In truth, it’s a slow news day here at the award-winning Clog.

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is to have knee surgery to help him 'walk this way' aagin.

Ozzy says he hates the term ‘heavy metal’.

Keith Richards has become the latest face of Louis Vuitton in an advertising campaign for the fashion brand. (Presumably Keef’s craggy skin will be used to make some very expensive handbags.)

And, er… that’s it. Hardly earth-shattering, eh readers?

One other story did come to our attention, however: the fact that UFO bassist Pete Way won’t be allowed to tour the US with his band, having had his request for a working visa turned down.

UFO have a batch of American dates scheduled for the spring, and will now have to draft in a temporary replacement for Way.

When Way applied for his visa, he had to undergo a strict medical to ensure no drugs were in his system.

As the four-stringer told the Clog at the time: “The only drugs I take these days are by accident.” Whatever that means.

However, the examiner seemed more concerned by Way’s drinking habits.

Way confessed to drinking a bottle of wine a day (and the rest) and got a lecture from the examiner about how he should adhere to safe, government-defined levels of alcohol-unit consumption.

So in the end it looks like it might be Way's penchant for excessive Lambrini consumption that kept him this side of the Atlantic.

Life is cruel. Particularly when you've got a classic Corvette languishing in a garage in the States, just waiting to be driven.

But the good news is that Way, as a founder member of UFO, will be entitled to a fifth of the money the band will make in America.

Though as any musician will tell you, it’s no substitute for actually being there…
